Greetings Everyone!

I hope this latest edition of the RTB newsletter/blog finds you well! As 2011 draws to a close, I want to take a moment and send you my heartfelt thanks for staying tuned to the Racky Thomas Band through our website and by signing up for our e-mail list. It's very heartwarming to know that you care about what we're doing and want to stay informed! It's been a great year; having the chance to to finally set foot on the stage of the Blues Barge on Rowes Wharf not once, but twice with no rain; I hope we'll have the chance to do it again a couple of times next summer! Along with great trips to Damariscotta, Maine and Martha's Vineyard were this summer's highlights.

Two great shows at The Acton Jazz Cafe' were this fall's highlights, one with my Traveling Medicine Show Revival Band, and a reunion with Mr. Nick Adams back on 10/15. It was great to have the 'Big Man' back on board again! I look forward to more future Nick Adams sightings as we forge ahead, and I know many of you do as well!

If you haven't had the opportunity or wherewithal to come to a Medicine Show gig, you better do it soon, we'll be at Johnny D's on 11/10 & 11/17, so do yourself a favor and check out this one of a kind band!

I've enjoyed a great summer; two wonderful nights at the Blues Barge at Rowe's Wharf, one in July and one in August with no rain! A trip to Damariscotta, Me. for the Dam-Blues Fest and a jam session with the ultra-cool J.P. Soars and his band, a visit to my favorite place on earth; Martha's Vineyard and The Ritz Cafe', not to mention Sai-Mai's fabulous Thai Restaurant! I even got some fresh ink done by Angel at Amity custom tattoo and Art studio!! My long desired Sailor Jerry pin-up gir! It's a slippery slope, but I can't wait to get back for some more!! Angel is a great artist and a really cool guy. It was a great hang, I just love the Vineyard; Janet, Chrissy, Robin, and Lawrence at the Ritz are so cool!! It was great to catch up with some old friends, and run into some friends from the main-land! The band was great, Paul Size on guitar, Jeremy Berlin on Piano, his brother Matt on bass, and Dan Bunge on drums. The only things missing this year were the late-night poker game, and of course my friends Marcia and Tom! Get well soon Marcia!

I had the pleasure of doing a solo set at Johnny D's opening up for the Delta Generators; Great band...check 'em out! There's also some talk about doing a Thursday night residency in the fall for you late-nighters and musician friends who would like to come out and play with us. I'll keep you posted.

August 2011 Newsletter

newsletterGreetings Friends of the RTB,

I hope you're having a great summer, and this edition of the RTB newsletter finds you well.

I had the pleasure of attending Andrew Hatch's annual 4th of July party in Washington, NH and enjoyed playing for his guests around the campfire. Andrew's fireworks display was pretty impressive!

I had a killer band in tow at the Blues Barge at Rowe's Wharf in Boston on Bastille Day 7/14. We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect, with a full moon behind us and a full dance floor for the last set! It was our maiden voyage as we'd been rained out the prior three years in a row. I'd been thinking about calling Vegas and checking the odds of a 4th.

We'll be returning to the Barge 8/18; I hope we'll have another sterling night and you can join us. It is truly a wonderful venue.

We'll be on Salisbury Beach 7/23 for the Beach Party Blues Festfeaturing Mr. Nick and The Dirty Tricks and Brian Templeton. Our set will be @ 3:30, and then we'll be trucking up to Kennebunkport, ME for a private party later that evening.

We'll be performing a lunchtime set at 1 International Place in Boston's financial district from 12-2pm on 7/28. It's free and open to the public.

7/30 is a Swing Dance in Cambridge

We're at The Strange Brew in Manchester, NH 8/5 and travel up to beautiful Damariscotta, ME for the Dambluesfest on the 6th

We'll be at the Ritz in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard 8/12 & 13

We'll wrap up August with a visit the Stone's Public House in Ashland, MA on the 19th and an outdoor afternoon performance 2-6pm at the Indian Ranch in Webster, Ma. 8/27, (I didn't know Indians had ranches) must be something new!!

I'd also like to mention that I'll be MC'ing and performing on the side-stage at Heatherfest again this year. It will be 9/11 and is a great day of friends and music right in Ms. Fest's backyard! It's a great take for any of the uninitiated!

Anyway, that's all I've got for now. And remember, if you're not attending RTB performances, you're not having enough fun in your life! Have a great summer!

Best regards,

Rack
